Parenting Class for God
by Jerry

God, like many human parents, seems to be in need of a
class in "Good Parenting Skills." Let's see how many
basic rules of "Parenting 101" God has missed in the
Cain and Abel story:
1. Thou shalt not show favoritism to one child over
another!
Even if you feel it, make every effort not to
show it.
2. Thou shalt make every effort to pay attention and to
praise the deeds and efforts of your children!
Can and Abel have made an effort -- with no
prior instruction -- to offer thanks. That is deserving
of acknowledgment and praise by God. Cain obviously
needs it; God appears not to have
provided it.
3. Thou shalt provide clear boundaries and
expectations for your children.
God has implied that
Cain has not - yet - "done right" -- but it does not
appear that God has clearly stated what Cain should do.
Also, God seems to have an inkling that Cain has an urge
to sin, but doesn't appear to have given clear
prohibition of what Cain must not do.
